What is hysteroscopy?

Hysteroscopy is used to diagnose or treat problems of the uterus. A hysteroscope is a thin, lighted telescope-like device. It is the inspection of the uterine cavity by endoscopy with access through the cervix. It allows for the diagnosis of intrauterine pathology and serves as a method for surgical intervention.


Hysteroscopy is a treatment that doctor will look inside that patient uterus to diagnose and treat causes of bleeding or any abnormality of the uterus. Before the procedure, the patient will be given general anesthesia to block the pain, by using a hysterscope (small camera, thin and lighted) to access through the uterine cavity
